What is a chemical peel and what is it used for?

Chemical peels are a category of advanced clinical skin rejuvenation treatments that aid in reversing damaged skin due to factors such as aging, sun exposure, and acne.  By sloughing of the dead skin cells with a chemical peel, a new and fresh healthy glowing layer of skin is exposed making your skin appear younger and tighter. This is a wonderful treatment to address fine wrinkles, dryness, hyper-pigmentation, and acne.

How long is each treatment?  How many treatments will I need?

There are three different levels of chemical peels.  Variation between intensity of levels and strengths will depend on individual needs.  Your Aesthetician can recommend a customized treatment for your skin.

Are chemical peels painful?

Depending on the level, there might be slight discomfort with the treatment.

What can I expect before treatment?

The main thing to consider before a peel is to stay out of the sun.  Clients with cold sores or sensitive skin may be at a greater risk for post-treatment complications. Clients currently on antibiotics, pregnant or trying to become pregnant should not consider peels. Providers should be made aware of any allergies, as many allergies are contra-indicative to chemical peels.

What can I expect after treatment?

Depending on the level of treatment, there may be no post treatment side effects, to light redness and irritation, to moderate peeling for up to ten days.

We offer over fifteen different types of chemical peels.  Aestheticians at The M Spa will select a peel that is right for your individual needs.
